Hi Everybody!
The 2024/2025 Edmonton 4-H Multi Club year begins soon and we wanted to let you know about this year's activities and projects! The projects offered this year include:
Arts & Crafts - candle making, painting, sewing and baking
Outdoor Pursuits - archery, axe throwing, ice fishing, camping, geocaching and more
Foods - baking, cooking, and learning to make your own delicious creations
Video Game Development - making your own character and platform
Apart from the amazing projects to participate in monthly, members can also take a lead in organizing events from holidays parties and club outings to running for board position (president, secretary, treasurer, content creator etc). There are also 4H District events members can be a part of.
Club meetings are also held monthly (day TBD) where we discuss upcoming events and plan for mandatory 4-H activities like public speaking competitions. You also have to fill out a record book and club project booklets.
Members will participate in fun projects and learn through hands on experiences designed to increase knowledge, track their progress and give them a sense of accomplishment and good self-esteem.
Our city-based club is unique as we don’t offer the traditional beef & horse projects that many are familiar with, but instead offer a wide range of life-skills projects (based on interest/enrollment) which have included but not limited too: Automotive, Entrepreneurship, Video Game Development, Archery/Outdoor Pursuits, Sewing, Fitness & Nutrition, Urban Agriculture, Home Renovations, Judging, Digital Arts, D & D Gaming, Exploring 4-H, and "Pie, Pi & More Pi".
Members will meet at least once a month in a group setting with leaders to practice and master the materials.
Commitment
Along with the monthly project specific group get-togethers, commitment also includes attending one club business meeting a month (usually the 1st Monday evening each month), completing a record book tracking project progress, and achievement day. Our club also participates in regular fun outings like laser tag & trampoline park along with a Highway Clean Up fundraiser in May, a 4-H Regional Life Skills Fair, and the 4-H Communications (Public Speaking) Competition.
More About 4-H
4-H is one of the world’s largest youth organizations, found in more than 70 countries. In Canada, 4-H was established in 1913 and now has more than 23,500 members and 7,800 volunteers. The provincial chapter was created in 1917 and the Edmonton 4-H Multi Club (previously known as Northlands 4-H Club) is now entering it’s 7th year with about 20 members.
